PAPL was incorporated in 1989 with a clear objective of providing precision tool-room services to the major automobile, electrical and engineering industries located in and around Pune, which is a major industrial hub of India. Starting with simple jigs, fixtures and gauges as per customer designs, PAPL was soon manufacturing, exporting and supplying more and more complex fixtures, developing their own in-house design capabilities along the way. In 1995, PAPL started building Special Purpose Machines and equipment. The innovative streak was already whetted in 1994 in the form of "Captive Power Award" from Wartsila Diesel for their unique design resulting in huge savings for the company. The customer base expanded rapidly, but a couple of companies, notably Crompton Greaves and Newage Electrical (now called Cummins Generator Technologies) were instrumental in PAPL gravitating towards the electrical industry. The Special Purpose Machines built by PAPL are Mostly non-conventional, and developed either after studying and re-engineering imported equipment all over the world, or from first principles. Today, PAPL is known for its ingenious designs, excellent machine build quality, value-for-money prices and excellent after sales support. All along, innovation has been the buzzword, as is evident from the path-breaking development of machines like Hot Roll Dip and Trickle Impregnation machines.
