Solar street lights are LED lights that run on batteries which are charged using a solar photovoltaic panel. All this is mounted on a pole height of which depends upon the wattage of the light. Solar street lights normally range from 9 watts to 24 watts. Higher wattage lights are also available but they are made on specific orders. Street lights are of two types.

These street lights have a luminary, photovoltaic panel and battery mounted separately on a pole of required height. These are ideal replacements of normal street lights as they are fully automatic, stand alone, zero maintenance systems with long life.
These lights are tamper free with luminary, battery and the photovoltaic panels mounted as one unit only. These are easier to install and are maintenance free with a very aesthetic look but are slightly more expensive as compared to conventional solar street lights.
