Description

Abrasion Resistance of the Fabric The wearing away of any part of a material by rubbing against another surface is known as Abrasion of that material.
Abrasion Resistance of the Fabric
The wearing away of any part of a material by rubbing against another surface is known as Abrasion of that material. There are so many methods for determining the Abrasion Resistance of the fabrics. One of these methods is the determination of Abrasion Resistance of the Fabrics by using the Martindale Abrasion Tester.

The Abrasion Resistance is measured by subjecting the specimen to rubbing motion in the form of a geometric figure, that is a straight line, which becomes a gradually widening ellipse. Until it forms another straight line in the opposite direction and traces the same figure again under known conditions of pressure and abrasive action.
No. of Specimen Test at a time One to Four
Exposure Area of the Specimen 6.45 sq. Cm.
R.P.M. of the Outer Pegs 47.5 ± 2.5 R.P.M.
Drive Speed Ratio of Outer Pegs to Inner Pegs 32/30
Total Stroke of Outer and Inner Pegs 60.5 ± 0.5
Working Pressure on the Test Specimen 12 Kpa (in the step of 3 Kpa)
Motor 1/5 Hp 220 V AC Single Phase
